Once a simple fishing village,
Quarteira has become in a cosmopolitan
tourist center in the last decades, due
mainly to the fact that thousands
of visitors travel to this wonderful city
every year.
Its past identity can be
glimpsed in a 17th century church and in
a nucleus of houses decorated with colored
borders, usual in the architectural style
of the Algarve
This summer will see the addition of many new features to the face of Quarteira,
like the community swimming pools and relaxation center. Also due to be finished
by May, a large park and play area close to the public tennis courts. Several
new up-market restaurants and café shops have been added, as well as new parks
and playgrounds on the already attractive beach-front.
How
to get to Quarteira
After landing in Faro Airport, you can get to Quarteira by car (taxi, transfer
bus or rent-a-car), driving West by the EN 125 main road or the A22 freeway ("via
do Infante") for about 20 Km, the road is well sign-posted making it quite easy
to get there. If traveling by car from another country, coming down to the Algarve,
by motorway (A2), main road (IO1) or train, you will see sign postings for Loule/Quarteira
